We went to Hindisvík today for a little "christmas-trip" and took a few foals home to Sæból, where they will be spending the winter. We always take the foals home their first winter so they can eat more (the grown up horses are so dominant around the food) and get used to the humans (halter trained and pick up legs).
The horses looked very good and there is still green grass on the fields and very little snow in Hindisvík. I did not have the camera with me but got to take a few pictures on my phone. Therefore the quality is not very good, but better than nothing : )
I hope you had a very good christmas
hindis2ijol1Dáð is a 2 year old daughter of Gríma and Strákur frá Vatnsleysu

The youngsters came running when they saw us

Miðja, Lísa and Dáð taking a look at Húni

Miðja, Lísa and Dáð

Toppur and Dalía taking it easy. They are both offsprings of Strákur.

Miðja is finally regaining her mane. We had to cut it last year because she had a big knot in it when she came home after her summer in the mountain.
It was a shame because she had an unusually long mane for her age.

Miðja again. She is a daughter of Strákur and Villimey, who was a daughter of Orion frá Litla-Bergi. Last fall Miðja's first training was started by Hanný.
She turned out to be very promising and we will continue her training later in the winter.

Dáð turned 2 years old in september. She has grown a lot this fall.
In the background you can see her mother, Gríma.

Frökk frá Hindisvík is a 2 year old mare sired by Glæsir frá Hindisvík and Frá frá Hindisvík. That makes her 75% pure bred of the old Hindisvík bloodline.

Frökk standing in the most snow we could find in Hindisvík.

Skarði is a 2 year old son of Strákur and Skráma. Handsome and friendly.
Behind him is Melkorka, a 3 year old daughter of Akkur and a Hornafjörður mare.

Frigg was born last summer. She is a daughter of Frá and Akkur frá Vatnsleysu.

Dáð and Toppur, both 2 years old and sired by Strákur frá Vatnsleysu. I have to point out that Toppur is not as small as he looks on this picture. I don't know why it came out like this, it must be the way they are standing.

Djörfung is now in Sæból. She is born last summer and a daughter of Gargandi-Snilld and Akkur frá Vatnsleysu.

Spes is also in Sæból. She is big, good looking, calm and very friendly.

Spes again. She is a daughter of Strákur and Gríma, which makes her a full sister of Janus Ari and Dáð.

Djörfung again. We are expecting her sibling after the same mother and Nökkvi frá Syðra-Skörðugili, and are getting a little excited to see that foal ; )

Spes again

and again ... Taking a good look at the phone.

They don't get much cuter than this ^^
